Authorities are detaining a youngster who attempted to fly a small aircraft in an event that has bewildered the Balolow suburbs of Gilgil, Nakuru County.
With no flying abilities, the boy walked into a tycoon’s property and attempted the nearly deadly feat.Â
According to the investigators’ situational report, at about 11:40 a.m., a 17-year-old adolescent strolled into a large farm, climbed into a spray plane, and started the engine.
“It was reported by the owner of a spray aircraft registration number 5Y-AZA make PA25, and a resident of Balolow area within Ndume area of Gilgil around 9:30 am, a stranger walked into the ranch and boarded the cabin of the plane parked at the yard (sic),” the police report indicated.
The report further stated the adolescent began the motor and taxied off the bay, but did not manage to take off smoothly.
The plane collided with an electric fence, causing the engine to be blasted off and damaging the wheels.
Gilgil sub-county police chief Francis Tumbo verified the event adding the bewildered adolescent was subsequently apprehended by the police and was aiding them with investigations.
