Bungoma: Family Seeks Justice After Their Son’s Murder

"I'm deeply saddened by my son's untimely death. I had invested so much in his education, and I was overjoyed when he finished his university education

A family in Bungoma County has demanded that an investigation be launched into the death of their son, who was attacked by unknown people a week ago at Uwanja Ndege in Bungoma town.

The deceased was identified as Joel Watta Wakhungu, a 24-year-old from Sunrise Village who worked at a credit firm in Bungoma Town.

Watta’s body was discovered in a pool of blood in his house.

Nancy Wakungu, Watta’s mother, said she learnt of her son’s death through social media.

Ms. Wakungu claimed the killers took her son’s phone, TV, and laptop.

“My son had four SIM Cards, three for personal use and one for office operations,” she explained.

“I’m deeply saddened by my son’s untimely death. I had invested so much in his education, and I was overjoyed when he finished his university education. He left us way too soon.” she said.

Ms. Wakhungu stated that suspects should be apprehended for the sake of justice for her son.

She asked Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka, as well as MPs John Makali (Kabduyi) and John Chikati (Tongaren), to assist the family in raising funds for Watta’s funeral.
