A man who reportedly assaulted his ex-wife while she was working at a city club has been charged in Kibera Court.
Nicolas Kibiwot Kaimoi was arraigned before senior principal magistrate Renee Kitagwa.
He is suspected of assaulting Bett Jepchumba, a quality assurance officer, on May 1, 2021, in the Adams Arcade area of Nairobi County’s Dagoreti Sub-county.
Betty recounted her story on that fateful day when testifying in court.
“I was at my lounge and grill with my employee finalizing the day’s sales when the accused person came alongside another person claiming that they had come to pay my debt of Sh2,890.
“They then got inside the lounge and he told me that I was still his wife although we had separated for some months,” recounted Bett Jepchumba.
She told the court that the accused person held her hand and twisted it.
“He held my hand and twisted it. He punched me on my head and removed my wigs, he pushed me and I was hit by a table and he kicked me on my back,” she told the court.
