World Earth Day 2023; Let Us Restore Our Planet

Written By Vanessa Kariuki ||

Annually on April 22, Earth Day serves as a platform to show support for environmental preservation.

The theme of Earth Day in 2023, “Restore Our Planet,” emphasizes the urgent need for us to focus our time, money, and energy on resolving issues including climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and waste.

The goal of the day is to raise public awareness of problems including the rapid rise in pollution, global warming, and deforestation, which hurt the environment and threaten the survival of the world.

The largest problem the planet is currently dealing with is climate change.

With rising temperatures, droughts, floods, and the extinction of wildlife, the effects of climate change are more clearly seen. Moving toward a more sustainable way of life and lowering our carbon footprint require immediate action.

Putting money into the environment entails making decisions and taking action that will lessen our carbon footprint and lessen the effects of climate change.

In order to contribute to the realization of Sustainable Development Goals, planet protection demands shared responsibility and effort from all spheres of society. Making decisions that protect and restore our natural resources, biodiversity, and ecosystem services is another aspect of sustainability.

Natural resources, biodiversity, and ecosystem services will all be preserved and restored thanks to our combined efforts, which will also heal our planet.

Simple lifestyle adjustments like cutting less on single-use plastics, using the bus or bike instead of driving, and consuming more plant-based diets can all have a big impact.

We can make investments in environmentally friendly agricultural methods and give our support to programs that help ruined ecosystems and lands recover.

Also by supporting laws that encourage the use of renewable energy, taking part in activities, signing petitions, and joining groups that safeguard the environment, we may also help organizations and projects working towards environmental sustainability and conservation.

Governments are also responsible for addressing climate change and environmental degradation through infrastructure, regulations, and legislation, they can encourage sustainable habits, draw in investments in renewable energy, and safeguard animals and natural ecosystems.

Additionally, governments might spend money to fund programs that help the public become more aware of environmental issues.

On this Earth Day communities are welcome to come together to pick up rubbish, plant trees, or simply appreciate the beauty of nature.
