Azimio La Umoja has declined to attend a meeting called by Kenya Kwanza and the leadership of Parliament to discuss resuming the stalled bipartisan talks.
In a back-and-forth between the two camps, Raila Odinga’s camp stated that they will not be ready for the May 2 meeting.
In addition, despite President William Ruto’s request, Azimio has scheduled street protests for the same day next week.
Kenya Kwanza team leader in the talks, National Assembly Justice and Legal Affairs Committee Chairperson George Murugara, had called for the session to iron out sticking points.
However, Murugara’s Azimio counterpart, Otiende Amollo, declined the meeting on Friday evening.
