Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has now stated that all police chiefs in Kilifi will be transferred in order to facilitate a smooth investigation into the deadly cult in the area.
Kindiki said in a statement after his second visit to the region since the exhumation of bodies began at Shakahola that additional security officers have been brought on board to boost the ongoing operation to save the lives of people who may be holed up in the bushes and thickets.
“To facilitate comprehensive and conclusive investigations into the Shakahola tragedy,” Kindiki said, “the Government has decided to immediately transfer all Station, Divisional, Sub-County, and County heads and commanders of all agencies in Kilifi County.”
“This includes officers from the Kenya Police Service, the Administration Police Service, and the National Government Administration to give confidence to the ongoing operation and reassure the country that there will be accountability.”
The CS said aerial surveillance has been incorporated to enhance the capacity of the multi-agency team in the search and rescue mission.
