CSs’ Machogu, Chirchir Set To Appear Before Parliament

    Two Cabinet Secretaries are set to appear before the National Assembly on Wednesday, 3rd May 2023.

    In a statement read by the Leader of the Majority Party, Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah, the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Hon. Ezekiel Machogu, and his counterpart for Energy and Petroleum, Mr. Davis Chirchir are set to be questioned by Members of Parliament (MPs).

    Machogu will respond to a range of Questions from the MPs relating to the construction of Junior Secondary Schools, the introduction of school feeding programmes, plans for the smooth transition of learners from Grade 7 to Junior Secondary School, and the plight of Government-sponsored students studying in Cuba.

    On the other hand, Chirchir will also appear before the National Assembly on the same day to respond to a series of Questions from lawmakers relating to measures being taken to cushion water utility companies from high electricity prices, stalled electricity connectivity to homes and public institutions, connectivity of sufficient and uninterrupted power supply to certain towns, and causes and long-term solutions to persistent power outages in the country.

    The appearance of the Cabinet Secretaries before the National Assembly is a significant development as it provides an opportunity for Members of Parliament to hold the Executive accountable.
