The Cabinet Secretary for Health, Nakhumicha S. Wafula, held a meeting at Afya House today with representatives from the Aga Khan Development Network-Kenya.
In attendance were Dr. Azim Lakhani, the Diplomatic Representative, and Noreen Kassam, responsible for the management and implementation of programs.
The meeting’s main goal was to examine potential areas of cooperation between the Aga Khan Hospital and the Kenyan government in order to improve primary healthcare services.
Strategic alliances with powerful organisations like the Aga Khan become increasingly important as Kenya’s Kwanza government gets ready to start the Universal Health Coverage programme in the near future.

The Aga Khan Hospital affirmed its commitment to aiding Kenya in its initiatives to improve access to primary healthcare. The hospital hopes to play a key role in achieving the goals of the Universal Health Coverage programme by utilising their vast experience and resources.
The gathering also emphasised the value of public-private partnerships in advancing Kenya’s healthcare delivery systems.
