Controversial UK-based Televangelist Archbishop Gilbert Deya has denied stealing five babies insisting that the Government is persecuting him.
While testifying in a case in which he is facing accusations of child trafficking, Deya said that at 71 years of age he has never had any criminal record.
“I am a televengelist and have never had a criminal record. I am 71 years old years. In my entire life I have, I have never engaged in any criminal activity here in Kenya or in the UK”,he said.
While being re-examined by his lawyer, John Swaka, Deya told Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Robinson Ondieki that he was not in his Mountain View house when the alleged miracle children were found.
While defending himself from the allegations, the preacher who was on August 4, 2017, deported to Kenya from the UK to face child theft charges, added that he did not want to come back to Kenya because he was afraid that he would not get a fair trial in Kenya.
“I was not present in that house I was in the UK.He also denied being charged with falsifying birth certificates. We came back here in 2004,” he testified.
In the case, Deya is charged with five counts of stealing five children, all aged below 14 years, between 2002 and 2004, at Mountain View Estate.
