Police have arrested a suspect linked to the murder of a pastor in Kangundo, Machakos.

Alexander Nthenge Musila was picked from his hideout at Kanyonyo in Kitui on May 11.

Musila is suspected to be among Pastor Charles Mutuku’s murderers, whose body was discovered lying on his farm on May 9.

Eastern regional police commander Joseph Ole Napeiyan said the suspect was arrested by officers from Kanyonyo police station and handed over to Kangundo DCI detectives.

Napeiyan said the arrest was reported at Kakuyuni police station in Kangundo, Machakos, as a follow-up murder incident report on Thursday at 11.39 pm.

“The OCS and his team from Kanyonyo police station and in coordination with DCI Kangundo managed to arrest Alexander Nthenge Musila who is a suspect in the murder of Charles Mutuku, a pastor at AIC church Mukunike,” Napeiyan told the Star on Friday.

Napeiyan said the suspect will face murder charges.

He said DCI detectives from Kangundo were going on with further investigations into the priest’s murder.

Mutuku was murdered and his eyes gouged out before his body was found dumped in a maize plantation approximately 50 metres from his homestead.

His body was found lying on the farm near his homestead in Kawethei, Kangundo subcounty early Tuesday.
