The Secretariat Office for the Africa Climate Summit and Africa Climate Week was officially opened by Cabinet Secretary Hon. Soipan Tuya.
The Africa Climate Summit and Africa Climate Week will take place concurrently from September 4 to September 8 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi City County, Hon. Soipan revealed during the unveiling, which was also attended by a number of stakeholders.
The Cabinet Secretary stated that nearly 10,000 delegates, including Heads of State and Government and their delegations, officials of UN agencies and other international organisations, members of civil society organisations, and a wide range of other interest groups, will attend the twin events in Nairobi.
“I encourage more partners to come on board and support the Summit. I also call for more steps towards climate action, such as active participation in carbon credits and emission reduction, as the country is working to combat the climate change crisis,” said CS Soipan.
Ole Thonke, the ambassador of Denmark to Kenya, Mr. Nyambe Nyambe, the director of the African Union, Stephen Jackson, the UN Resident Coordinator in Kenya, PS SingoeiAKorir, and PS Eng Festus Ng’eno also spoke at the inauguration of the Secretariat Office.
