Prof. Kibwana Urged Government To Utilize Youths To Fulfill Development Agenda

The former Makueni governor has been an outspoken advocate for more opportunities for young people.

Former Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has urged the government to capitalise on the youth population’s potential.

Kibwana stated on Saturday that only through this will Africa as a continent be able to achieve its development goals.

“If you ask me, Africa’s most critical resource is not its minerals, water bodies, agricultural land, and so on,” he said.

“Only when the continent understands how to strategically deploy its youth for its own development will the continent’s renaissance become a reality,” he added.

The former Makueni governor has been an outspoken advocate for more opportunities for young people.

This comes even as Environment CS Soipan Tuya called on the youth to unite and take a leading role at the upcoming African Climate Summit saying effective climate action was a whole-of-society undertaking.

Kenya is preparing to host the Africa Climate Summit which will happen on September 4 to 6 in Nairobi.

She said youths are the bearers of climate action dreams for current and future generations.

“We are not leaving anybody behind, not the least our young people. I am extremely excited today that we have our young people on the table way before the summit,” Tuya said.

She said the success of the Summit will depend on the participation of Africa’s climate action partners.
