MOH, USAID Partner to Improve Primary Health Care

PS Muthoni expressed her gratitude for the assistance and commended USAID's commitment to capacity building.

Effective community health initiatives and strong primary healthcare systems are essential for accelerating the implementation of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

In light of this, Principal Secretary State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, met with Acting Deputy Mission Director of USAID Kenya, John Kuehnle, today to discuss ways in which the two organisations may work together to develop Primary Health Care Networks (PCNs).

The meeting’s discussions centred on crucial partnership areas intended to improve the nation’s primary healthcare services. Notably, USAID has promised to fund the development of Community Health Promoters’ capacities in 26 counties.

This assistance is timely as the government gears up to launch a wide-ranging programme of community health care.

PS Muthoni expressed her gratitude for the assistance and commended USAID’s commitment to capacity building. She emphasised the significance of this partnership in supporting neighbourhood health programmes and enhancing the entire primary healthcare system.
