Ruto: I Have Paid All The Counties, I Dont Want Debts

President William Ruto has announced that his government will begin the new fiscal year with no obligations owed to counties.

The President stated during an interdenominational service in Kajiado Central that the monies were disbursed early this week.

The President maintained that he is committed to devolution’s success and vowed that his administration would have cleared the arrears by the end of June.

” I have cleared all monies owed to all the 47 counties. I don’t want to start a new year with any pending bills,”  Ruto said.

The National Treasury disbursed Sh31.4 billion in arrears owed to the 47 county governments for the month of May, putting a stop to the continuous cash shortage in the devolved units.

The money released on Monday are the final installment of the Sh92 billion owing to counties by the National Government since March.
