Airbus Delivers First China-Assembled Aircraft To Europe

For the first time, Airbus delivered an aircraft assembled in Tianjin Municipality, north China, to a European customer.

On Tuesday, Hungary’s Wizz Air, the largest low-cost carrier in Central and Eastern Europe, took delivery of its first A321neo aircraft assembled at Airbus’ Final Assembly Line (FAL Asia) in Tianjin.

According to Christoph Schrempp, general manager of Airbus Tianjin Delivery Center, the delivery is a watershed moment for the company.

FAL Asia has continued to increase its assembling capacity, assisting in meeting the demand of more international customers and injecting new impetus into the global aviation market.

To meet the rising demand for the popular A321 model, Airbus announced plans to upgrade its Tianjin FAL to A321 production in 2021.
The largest member of the A320 family, the A321neo, can carry up to 244 passengers.

The Tianjin FAL, which opened in 2008, was the first Airbus commercial aircraft assembly line outside of Europe. Since its first A320 delivery in 2009, Airbus’ Tianjin FAL has delivered more than 600 aircraft in 14 years.
