Trade CAS Kidero Haunted By Ksh. 68M Corruption Case

Trade and Industrialization Chief Administrative Secretary and former Nairobi Governor Dr Evans Kidero is set to be charged afresh on August 15,2023 in a fraud case relating to the irregular payment of Ksh.68million to a law firm.

CAS Kidero was supposed to take plea today as per the Court’s earlier directions, however, the case was adjourned to pave way for the prosecution to prepare the fresh charge sheet in the case and serve it to Kidero before August 15.

On June 12, Milimani Anti-Corruption Magistrate Felix Kombo ruled that Kidero and his co-accused should take plea afresh to the amended charges after he dismissed objections by the former governor opposing plans to charge him afresh.

“In the end the court finds that the numerous objections against the draft amended charge herein do not hold merit save to the extent that I have found the proposed amended charge in count X to be defective,” ruled Kombo.

Dr. Kidero is charged alongside Mr. George Wainana Njogu (former county Chief of Staff and Director Cups Limited); Paul Mutunga Mutungi (former City Councillor); Aduma Joshua Owuor; John Ndirangu Kariuki (former city mayor Manasseh Karanja Kepha Deputy Director Internal Audit); Philomena Kavinya Nzuki (principal county accountant); accountants Ng’ang’a Mungai Ng’ang’a, Charity Muringo Ndiritu, Peterson Andrew Njiru, Ekaya Alumasi, James Mimi Mbugua, Elizabeth Wanjiru Nderitu and Alice Njeri Mundia. The others are Hannah Muthoni Kariuki and John Ngari Wainana (co-Director Cups Limited.
