Mathe wa Ngara Asks Court to Release Her on Bail over Unstable Medical Condition

Nancy Kigunzu alias Mathe wa Ngara has asked the JKIA law court to release her on bail to be able to pursue her deteriorating medical condition.

Kigunzu, who on Monday collapsed during the hearing of her bail application told the court her medical condition needs constant review and medication, and if denied bail her condition will get worse.

Appearing before magistrate Njeri Thuku, Kigunzu dismissed allegations that she is a flight risk and that she will abscond court proceedings.

She further refuted claims that she would interfere with witnesses in the case, saying that all the witnesses are police officers and she has no powers to interfere with them.

The prosecution had asked the court not to release Nancy Kaungu and the other three accused persons on bail to block from poisoning the society.

“The accused persons be isolated from society so they do not continue poisoning the society in which they live in,” reads the prosecution’s affidavit.

“Should the respondents be released before the investigations are complete, there is likelihood that they will interfere with the investigations and compilation of evidence,” the prosecution said.

The prosecution argues that it believes it has strong evidence against the accused.
