Athi River Woman Arrested With Sh250,000 Marijuana

A woman was arrested after being found with narcotics in Athi River, Machakos County.

Petronilla Phillip, 45, was apprehended on Saturday after police stormed her home in Kisumu Ndogo slum in Athi River Sub County.

During the 1.23pm swoop, the suspect was found in possession of Sh250,000 in street value bhang, according to Athi River South Sub County police commander Jos Mudavadi.

When the cops confiscated the shipment, part of it was still being processed, while the remainder had already been processed and was in the market.

The arrest came as security forces in the region increased their efforts to crack down on criminals and clear the area of illegal drugs and spirits, as well as other forms of illegal trade and substances.

Money believed to be the profits of the drug sale was also recovered from the suspect.

The incident was reported to the Athi River police station as a drug raid/seizure.

The suspect had been locked up at Athi River police station pending to be arraigned at Mavoko Law Courts.
