Kisumu law courts has jailed three women and sentenced to serve nine years in prison after being found guilty of defrauding Kisumu’s Gulf Lab Chemical Company of Ksh.16,153,738.
The trio, Lilian Achieng Owino, Lavender Akoth Aduke and Millicent Akinyi Awando, are said to have been formerly employed at the company.
They were presented before Kisumu Resident Magistrate Beryl Omollo on Thursday and charged with three counts of stealing by servant, conspiracy to defraud and making documents without authority.
In her ruling, Omollo noted that the prosecution team, which presented nine witnesses before the court, had proved beyond doubt that the trio was guilty of the alleged offences.
“The trial magistrate sentenced the three accused persons as follows: For count 1, each of the three accused persons will serve 5 years imprisonment in addition to a fine of Ksh.5,384, 379.43,” ruled the trial Magistrate.
