Court Orders 12 Congolese Arrested In Kapsabet Be Taken To Refugee Camp

Eldoret Court gives refuge to 12 Democratic Republic of Congo nationals arrested during the weekend in Kapsabet Town for being in the country illegally.

The foreigners were produced in court where the Magistrate issued an order for them to be taken to Ugandan authorities and Kakuma refugee camp in Turkana.

Statistically, the camp hosts thousands of Congolese, South Sudanese, Rwandans and Burundi refugees among others.

The arrested DRC foreigners informed the Court that they did not wish to be taken back to DRC hence the order to take them to the refugee camp and Uganda.

This came as police detained 13 other Ethiopian nationals for being illegally in the country.

The first group of seven was arrested in Maktau, Taita Taveta as they waited to be assisted to cross to Tanzania. They told police they were headed for South Africa for greener jobs.
