‘Fake’ Lawyer Brian Mwenda Finally Charged In Court

The alleged fake lawyer Brian Mwenda Njagi was on Wednesday arraigned and charged with six counts of uttering a false document, making a false document, as well as a practicing certificate.

He pleaded not guilty to all the charges before Nairobi Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina.

His lawyers, led by John Khaminwa and Danstan Omari vehemently objected to the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) appearing in court, saying that LSK cannot be a victim in the suit.

“LSK cannot be part and parcel of this proceedings…they can only hire but not to be on record,” court was told.

Njagi will be detained at Muthaiga police station until tomorrow 2 p.m. when the court is expected to issue a ruling on whether LSK as a body is properly constituted to be part of the criminal proceedings.
