A man is in police custody after his son was killed in a fight over two missing chickens in Shinyalu, Kakamega County.
The 36-year-old father was reportedly enraged by his son’s disappearance for four days because he had allegedly stolen two chickens before going missing.
When the son returned home on Monday, the father allegedly beat him with a piece of wood, injuring his head and back.
The boy was rushed to Khayega’s Shieywe Private Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
When police arrived on the scene, they noticed bloodstains on the body. He is now being held in custody pending further investigation and possible charges.
He apologised for the incident.
