A 65-Seater Bus Set Ablaze Near Salgaa Trading Center After Fatal Road Accident

More than 60 passengers Narrowly escaped death after irate mob set ablaze a 65-seater matatu near Salgaa Trading Center, along the busy Nairobi-Nakuru highway, which was heading to Eldoret and Western Kenya, reportedly struck a boda boda rider, killing him on the spot.

According to the witnesses, some passengers were forced to escape through windows after short verbal exchange between the driver of the bus and the mob before being set on fire.

The incident disrupted traffic along the busy road. The bus was burnt beyond repair, leaving behind a wreck. According to reports, no deaths were reported as all the passengers reportedly escaped.

The Motorists Association of Kenya (M.A.K) has condemned the incident, calling on the National Police Service to take action against the alleged boda boda riders.

This incident has since raised fresh concerns over the tendency of boda boda riders to resort to mob violence, including burning vehicles after accidents.

Few months ago, suspected boda boda riders set ablaze a 33-seater matatu in Juja, Kiambu County after it was involved in road accident with a motorbike.
