A Dedicated Patriot — Uhuru Kenyatta Mourns Late Gen. Francis Ogolla

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has mourned the death of Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Francis Ogolla, who was killed in a helicopter crash in Elgeyo Marakwet on Thursday.

In a statement seen by Uzalendo News, Kenyatta described the distinguished military General as an outstanding patriot whose leadership, valour, and dedication to duty left an indelible mark on both the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and the country of Kenya.

“General Ogolla’s untimely demise in a helicopter crash at the Kaben-Cheptulel border between Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot counties, is a significant loss for our nation,” said Uhuru.

“The CDF was not only an accomplished military leader, but also a devoted patriot who dedicated his life to serving and protecting our beloved country. I had the privilege of serving with General Ogolla as Deputy Commander of the Kenya Air Force, Commander of the Kenya Air Force, and finally as Vice Chief of Defence Forces.”

Kenyatta also expressed his condolences to the families and friends of the nine military personnel who died in the crash, including General Ogolla.

“During this period of mourning, please accept my sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the family, friends, and colleagues of the other officers of the ill-fated flight,” he stated.

“May the memories of these exceptional military officers, who had a profound influence on our nation, bring you comfort and strength in this difficult time.”
