Kithimani Law Courts sentenced a 41-year-old man to 29 years in prison for defiling his 12-year-old daughter.
He is accused of committing the offence on May 15, 2019, when he was alone at home with the minor while the other siblings had left for school.
After the incident, the father is said to have beaten the minor and threatened her not to report the incident to her mother.
In his defense, the accused claimed that he was set up because of a marital dispute with the minor’s mother.
Nevertheless, the presiding magistrate, Hon. Wechuli, dismissed the claims, ruling that the prosecution led by Fredrick Kimathi had proven beyond reasonable doubt that the accused had indeed defiled the minor.
The magistrate agreed with the prosecution’s argument that the father, who was meant to protect his daughter, had instead turned into the predator.
