Access Bank Kenya and NBK Customers Gain Seamless Branch Access

Access Bank Kenya and National Bank of Kenya (NBK) have rolled out shared in-branch services, allowing customers to transact seamlessly across a combined network of more than 100 branches.

The move, announced on Friday, marks a major step in the banks’ ongoing integration.

Customers from either institution can now make deposits, withdrawals, funds transfers, and account inquiries at any of the participating branches.

Access Bank Kenya Managing Director Ralph Opara said the milestone was part of efforts to make banking simpler and more accessible.

“By opening our networks to each other’s customers, we are ensuring that banking is faster and more convenient. This also reflects our ambition to deliver greater choice and improved services,” he said.

The integration is expected to expand benefits across different market segments. SMEs and retail clients will enjoy greater reach and more reliable digital services, while corporate and multinational customers will gain access to cross-border trade finance and treasury solutions through Access Bank’s global hubs.

Public sector clients, traditionally served by NBK, will see services reinforced by digital collections and disbursements.

NBK Managing Director George Odhiambo said the collaboration showed how banking partnerships can create value. “Together, we are building an institution that will deliver more value to customers, empower communities, and play a catalytic role in Kenya’s economic growth,” he said.

Both banks stressed that existing accounts, cards, cheque books, and digital platforms remain valid, and deposits remain secure.

The initiative positions the merged institutions to compete more aggressively in Kenya’s growing financial services sector while pushing forward the national inclusion agenda.
