Act of Terror—Murkomen Condemns Protest Chaos and Police Attacks

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has issued a fiery statement following the nationwide unrest on June 25, describing the events as an attempted civilian coup and likening the scale of destruction to acts of terrorism.

In a press briefing, Murkomen revealed that at least nine police stations were either vandalized or torched, with firearms, police uniforms, and vital documents stolen during the chaos. Several police vehicles were also burned to ashes.

“This was not a protest. It was a coordinated attack on the state—an act of urban terrorism,” Murkomen declared.

Police stations affected include:

1. Dagoretti Police Station

2. Juja Police Station

3. Villa Post Police Station

4. Molo Police Station

5. Rongai Police Station

6. Matuu Police Station

7. Mai Mahiu Police Station

8. Ol Kalou Police Station

Murkomen accused unnamed political leaders of sponsoring the violence by ferrying goons into major towns and targeting businesses owned by rival politicians. He added that investigations were underway and arrests were imminent.

In a rare rebuke, the CS also criticized some churches and foreign organizations for allegedly supporting the protests while remaining silent on attacks against police officers.

“Selective morality is dangerous. Condemning police action without acknowledging what our officers endured is hypocrisy,” he said.

Murkomen warned that future protests may be subject to stricter regulation, citing the scale of damage, threats to national security, and growing evidence of external influence.
