On Saturday, renowned activist and lawyer Morara Kebeso made an unexpected announcement, halting his civic education campaign aimed at informing Kenyans about the need to combat widespread corruption.

In a post, Kebeso expressed disappointment with the lack of meaningful change in governance, despite his efforts.

In a bold statement, Kebeso revealed that he would refund all the money raised by Kenyans to support his initiative, citing concerns about his reputation.

“I cannot continue to dirty my reputation and earn the tag of a conman or beggar. It’s not worth it,” he wrote.

The activist had previously requested financial assistance to procure a state-of-the-art PA system, seeking between Ksh840,000 and Ksh1.2 million.

To his surprise, donations poured in, even surpassing the limit of his mobile account.

Despite his popularity, Kebeso declared he would no longer continue his struggle for a better Kenya, stating, “My observation is that most Kenyans have already decided the country they want to live in.”

Kebeso, known for his inspections of stalled government projects, had drawn the ire of senior government officials.

His actions prompted verification of key national projects by high-ranking officials, including Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Interior CS Kithure Kindiki.
