Africa Spirits Limited (ASL), the popular alcoholic beverage manufacturer owned by businessman Humphrey Kariuki, has officially been placed under administration following prolonged financial and operational struggles.
In a public notice issued Friday, PKF Consulting (K) Limited confirmed that Peter Kahi has been appointed as the administrator of ASL, effective June 17, 2025.
This appointment gives Kahi full control over the company’s operations, assets, and financial decisions, stripping the firm’s directors, shareholders, and employees of authority to act on behalf of the business without his consent.
“NOTICE is hereby given that Peter Kahi of PKF Consulting (K) Limited… was appointed as the Administrator of Africa Spirits Limited (Under Administration) on 17 June 2025,” the notice read in part.
ASL, which was once among Kenya’s leading liquor producers, has in recent years been beset by legal and regulatory troubles, including high-profile tax evasion investigations and repeated suspensions of its operating license.
The company has also faced mounting debts and disruptions to production and distribution.
The administrator has called on all creditors and stakeholders to submit details of their claims by July 18, 2025, signaling the beginning of a structured debt assessment process.
All matters related to the company’s affairs must now be directed to PKF Consulting’s Westlands offices.
