Governor Wavinya Ndeti on Wednesday hosted Robbie Lyle, founder of the globally renowned Arsenal Fan TV (AFTV), at her office.

Addressing the media, Governor Wavinya called Lyle’s visit “a symbol of hope and inspiration,” particularly for young football enthusiasts in the county. “This visit by Mr. Robbie represents hope and a fresh beginning for our people, especially the youth,” she said.

Reaffirming her administration’s commitment to nurturing local talent, Governor Wavinya declared, “No dream is too big. We are fully committed to identifying, nurturing, and supporting talent so that our people, especially the youth, can benefit from their gifts.”

She announced that this year’s Governor’s Cup tournament would be the largest in Machakos history, with over 650 teams expected to compete across the county.

Mr. Lyle, who rose to international fame through AFTV’s unique fan-led football content, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and pledged to partner with Machakos County to uplift youth through football and digital content creation.

“I’m inspired by what’s happening here and want to be part of it,” he said, adding that sports can transform lives and communities.

Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi praised Governor Wavinya for her consistent efforts to empower youth, describing her as “a true champion of opportunity and inclusion.”

The visit marks a potential turning point for sports development in the region, as Machakos positions itself as a national model for talent-driven youth programs.
