Afya house dismisses Coronavirus scare

The Ministry of Health has dismissed reports that a Chinese airline was reportedly carrying passengers with the dreaded coronavirus.

In a statement, the ministry informed that it had cleared all passengers in a China Southern Airlines jetliner that was purported to have been carrying coronavirus passengers.

“Upon thorough screening of all the passengers and crew on board, none met the case definition criteria as stipulated by the World Health Organization, hence they were all released.”

The ministry further sensitized the passengers on signs and symptoms of the disease, prevention and medical procedures.

“All the passengers were sensitized on signs and symptoms of the disease, prevention measures and the need to promptly seek medical attention. “read the statement.

The ministry reiterated that it will continue monitoring cases, and urged the public to shun panic, assuring that the state is in control.

The Coronavirus Deathtoll as of Wednesday 6th February stands at 563 people.
