Vocal Lawyer Ahmednasir Opts Out Of Ruto Defense

Ahmednasir stated that he represented President Uhuru Kenyatta in the 2017 presidential election petition against Raila Odinga, and that the two former adversaries are now allies.

Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has now stated that he will not be able to represent President-elect William Ruto in the Supreme Court presidential petition.

The lawyer stated in a statement that he wants to, but is conflicted.
Ahmednasir stated that he represented President Uhuru Kenyatta in the 2017 presidential election petition against Raila Odinga, and that the two former adversaries are now allies.

He explained that Uhuru has the right to object to the move, citing a violation of the client-advocate privilege.
“I wish to, but I am unable to represent President-Elect Ruto in the Supreme Court. I’m undecided. In 2017, I represented outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta against Hon Raila Odinga. Now that Uhuru’s project (Hon Raila) is contesting Ruto’s victory, Uhuru will undoubtedly object and raise the clients-Advocate privilege “Ahmednasir stated this in a tweet.
He did, however, mention that he will run a Twitter commentary on the strengths and weaknesses of Raila Odinga’s case.
He also stated that he will predict the outcome of the Supreme Court’s decision on the matter.
This comes amid reports that Ahmednasir will be among the lawyers who will represent DP Ruto in the presidential petition.
