Defence lawyers for public service cabinet nominee Aisha Jumwa have come out in support of her after the ODM claimed she was unqualified for the position.
Led by lawyers Dunstan Omari and Shadrack Wambui said the criticism made against their client is malicious and done in bad faith.
They claim that despite the Cs’ pending cases, they have not been proven beyond a reasonable doubt and that they will appear before Mombasa Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku to learn what the DPP has said in the review of the pending files.
They claimed that Aisha Jumwa was legitimately nominated by President William Ruto and that the smear campaign against her will fail.
The selection of former Malindi Mp Aisha Jumwa as the CS nominee for Public Service was described as a big joke by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
“‘There are people in Kenya Kwanza like Kithure Kindiki who are competent for any government position but Aisha Jumwa is a big joke. She is not competent or suitable for any position,” Sifuna added.
MPs from the Azimio coalition have vowed to thoroughly vet Ruto’s picks for the cabinet.
Aisha Jumwa, a former Malindi MP who was selected as the head of the Public Service and Gender docket, was one of the 22 nominees. If Parliament gives its approval, she will succeed Margaret Kobia.
