Aisha Jumwa Warns Raila Over Planned Protests

On Saturday, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Leader Raila Odinga clashed with Kenya Kwanza leaders in Kilifi over the suspension of four IEBC commissioners.

Mr Odinga announced the December 7 convention in Kasarani while attending the homecoming of Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro and urged all his followers across the country to join in the protests because the government, he claimed, was moving in the wrong route.

Mr Odinga’s statement, however, did not sit well with Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa, Deputy Majority Leader of Parliament Owen Baya, and UDA MPs, who chastised him and advised Kenyans to reject calls for protests in the country.

“Mr Odinga should accept defeat because he was not the one who was declared president following the August 9 polls, just as I lost the Kilifi elections for Governor and did not cry,” she stated.

Instead of returning the country to campaign mode, the CS advised the ODM Party leaders to meet privately with Ruto and discuss their issues in order to establish peaceful solutions.

Kilifi, North MP Owen Baya claimed the town was not ready to return to campaign mode because protests would harm the tourism industry.
“Our economy is currently facing a number of issues. It’s past time for you to abandon your goals and admit that you lost the elections “Mr Baya stated.

Mombasa Governor Abdlussamad Shariff Nassir, Taita Governor Andrew Mwadime, Kilifi South MP Ken Chonga, Rabai MP Kenga Mupe, Senator Stewart Madzayo, and Speaker Teddy Mwambire were also present.
