Two people have been killed after being shot by people believed to be Alshabab terrorists.
The Al Shabaab militants had erected a roadblock on the Lamu Witu and Garsen highway between the area of ​​Maisha Masha and Pangani in the Witu forest of Lamu county.
It is reported that more than ten Al Shabaab terrorists who were wearing the uniforms of military officers arrived at the area and stopped four cars interrogating the passengers.
However, a GSU patrol unit arrived at the ‘check point’, triggering the militants to open fire.
In the confrontation, three cars, including a GSU vehicle, were shot and damaged, and one motorcycle was also burnt.
Four people, including two Italian citizens, were rescued following the attack.
The bodies of the two have been taken to the Mpeketoni Hospital mortuary.
Multi-agency officers have launched a strong operation to hunt down the terrorists who escaped into the forest.
