A Major but friendly security operation and roadblock is currently underway at Kanyoonyoo Market, Machakos County, along the Thika Garissa Highway.
The operation has been mounted by an elight squad that includes the Kenya Defence Forces. The operation is the first of its kind to be witnessed on the area.
A huge traffic jam snaking all the way to the Kitui Mwingi junction has ensued. It is not clear what the KDF men are targetting.
But all passengers are being searched by the hawk eyed officers.
Last week, President Kenyatta launched a new KDF Garrison in Garissa that is aimed at protecting Kenya’s territorial boundaries against terrorism.
The police are also involved in the more thorough operation.
