What started as a YouTube interview has now spiraled into a full-blown courtroom battle.
Radio host Alex Mwakideu has hired renowned constitutional lawyer Ochiel J. Dudley to defend him in a KSh 20 million defamation suit filed by motivational speaker Robert Burale.
The case stems from an October 4, 2025 video on Mwakideu’s channel, where his sister Rozina described her short marriage to Burale as “the biggest mistake of my life.” The interview went viral, prompting Burale to sue, claiming it falsely portrayed him as manipulative and dishonest, allegations he says have damaged his reputation.
Burale wants KSh 20 million in damages, removal of the video, and a public apology.
Dudley, a Jurist of the Year (2023) and partner at Bond Advocates LLP, is known for his constitutional expertise and could steer the case toward broader questions on free speech and digital accountability.
Mwakideu insists he never intended to defame Burale, saying he was unaware of some of Rozina’s remarks before the interview aired.
