Hon. Alice Wahome, CS, Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation met Egypt’s Minister Prof. Hani Sewilam, today at Maji House.
The Minister was accompanied by representatives from the Arab Republic of Egypt and their embassy in Kenya.
The two countries, upstream and downstream, that share the waters of the Nile, were concerned about regional water issues, which were the focus of the discussions.
Kenya, according to CS Wahome, supports a negotiated settlement of the Nile water dispute, putting special emphasis on the need for equitable, fair, and sustainable exploitation of transboundary water resources for the benefit of the concerned states and peoples. Kenya also supports the AU’s win-win strategy.
