Alphonse Kigen, Evaline Chirchir Crowned Standard Chartered Marathon Champions

This year’s Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon men’s and women’s winners are Alphonce Kigen and Evaline Chirchir.

Kigen, 26, broke the tape first at Uhuru Gardens on Sunday in two hours, ten minutes, and eighteen seconds, improving on his second-place performance in the 2021 event.

He was closely followed by Moses Mwangi, who finished in 2:10:26, and Patrick Kipchirchir, who finished in 2:11:59.

Kigen, who trains at Kaptagat in Uasin Gishu County, credited his success to careful planning.

“I’ve been preparing for three months, but I didn’t expect to win.” As the race progressed, and based on how my competitors were doing, I felt I had a chance to finally win, so I decided to push myself.
