American Citizen detained in Kenya pleads court to repatriate him back to his country

An American Citizen detained in Kenya has told Court that he is tired of staying in Kenyan Police cells and that he wants to be repatriated back to his Country.

Antoine Kassis an American citizen who is currently languishing in Kenyan police cells after he was indicted for the offence of conspiracy to commit Narcoterrorism, surprised a Nairobi Court today when he suggested he was ready to be extradited back to America, saying he was tired of the Kenyan prison life.

“I want to go back to America, am tired of staying in police cells.” Antoine told Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina at Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi.

The suspect, Antoine has been under detention of the Anti-Narcotics unit pending the filing, hearing and determination of his extradition proceedings to the United States of America to face the criminal charges.

He was indicated together with his accomplices who are still at large for the offences of Narcoterrorism and money laundering under US Code.

On the basis of his Indictment, the United States District Court issued an international warrant against him dated February 4, 2025.

He was later arrested and arraigned before Milimani Law Courts Chief Magistrate Court in Nairobi where the police requested for 21 days to complete filing the repatriation documents.

After the lapse of the 21 days police officers moved the Court for a second time seeking additional 14 days to finalize the repatriation process.

However, the suspect vehemently objected to the application saying he has already overstayed in remand cells and that his deteriorating health demands that he be allowed to fly back to America.

The Court reasoned with the suspect and granted police only seven days to finalize their process and have the suspect extradited to America.
