Amina Guyo Halake Declares Presidential bid, Asks More Women To Join State House Race

Amina Guyo Halake, wife of former presidential candidate Abduba Dida, has thrown her hat into the ring for Kenya’s top job, launching a bold presidential bid under the Alliance for Change party.

In a fiery announcement speech at Arabian Cuisine in Upper Hill, Halake made an unapologetic case for female leadership in Kenya’s male-dominated political arena, calling for equal representation and urging women to claim their space in national politics.

“Women must be given the same opportunities as men when it comes to leadership… For too long, certain positions have been treated as a preserve of men. That era must end.”

Casting herself as a reformer driven by values and lived experience, Halake painted a picture of a country fractured by injustice, inequality, and misgovernance and vowed to confront it head-on.

“I am not just standing here as a daughter, a sister, or a mother. I am standing as a Kenyan, one who has felt the pain of her people,” she said.

“I am ready to put my life on the line to fight injustice, corruption, and the killings that have become all too common.”

Halake called out the skewed distribution of national resources and the treatment of some citizens as “more Kenyan” than others.

“Those are the things we are going to bury six feet down. Every Kenyan deserves equal resources and representation.”

Her entry adds a disruptive voice to Kenya’s evolving 2027 political landscape filled with testosterone. So far, Dr. Fred Matiangi, Eugene Wamalwa, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Martha Karua have declared their interest in the Presidency.
