Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has declared he’s ready to walk away tomorrow if the club’s board or fans lose faith in him — a dramatic statement that comes after a crushing 1-0 Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
The loss, sealed by Brennan Johnson’s decisive strike in Seville, not only denied United a European trophy but also cemented a disastrous season. The Red Devils now sit a dismal 16th in the Premier League, facing the reality of no European football next season.
“If the board and the fans feel I’m not the right guy, I will go the next day,” Amorim told the press in a raw post-match conference. “But I will not quit again… I need a little bit of faith.”
The Portuguese tactician took over in November with hopes of salvaging the campaign, but United have since tumbled out of three cup competitions and slipped further down the league table. Yet, Amorim insists his philosophy remains intact — and his confidence unshaken.
Despite the calls for change, defender Luke Shaw threw his weight behind Amorim, saying, “He’s 100 per cent the right man. But all of us need to question if we’re good enough to be here.”
As fans digest another trophyless season, the pressure mounts on United’s hierarchy to decide: back Amorim, or brace for another rebuild.
With a fanbase divided and results in freefall, the next 24 hours could shape the future of Manchester United more than any transfer window.
