Ancelotti ‘Unbothered’ in Mbappe’s Slow Start at Real Madrid

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has expressed confidence in Kylian Mbappe’s ability to find his scoring touch, despite the French striker’s lack of goals in his first two La Liga matches.

Since his high-profile move from Paris Saint-Germain in June, expectations have been high for the 25-year-old forward. However, Mbappe has yet to get off the mark in the league, managing only one goal in competitive fixtures—a debut strike in the UEFA Super Cup final, where Real defeated Atalanta 2-0.

Mbappe’s transition to his new club has not been without its challenges.

After scoring in the Super Cup, he struggled to make an impact in La Liga, with disappointing performances in a 0-0 draw against Mallorca and a narrow 1-0 win over Real Valladolid.

Despite these initial struggles, Ancelotti remains unfazed, citing the need for patience during the adaptation process.

“His last goal was on August 14th. It has only been two weeks since, so there is no reason to worry. Neither us as a club, nor him personally, are concerned,” Ancelotti stated during a press conference. He added that Mbappe is happy at the club and is clearly eager to contribute immediately.

Ancelotti highlighted that adjusting to a new playing style takes time, particularly for a player like Mbappe, who has recently stepped into a role that involves more central responsibilities following the retirement of key midfielder Toni Kroos. He stressed the importance of flexibility within the team, acknowledging that every season comes with its distinct challenges.

“I didn’t ask Toni Kroos to be Aurelien Tchouameni last year, just as I won’t ask Tchouameni to be Kroos. Each player has his own characteristics, and we need to adapt to those,” Ancelotti explained.

Real Madrid is currently positioned fifth in the La Liga standings with four points, five behind league leaders Barcelona. Ancelotti’s side has a game in hand and remains optimistic about reclaiming their top form as the season progresses.

“There is always a specific timeline for every team to find their rhythm, and we are no exception,” he continued. “It will take some time, but I believe we will find our best version soon.”

With La Liga’s lofty expectations and Mbappe’s undeniable talent, the football world will be watching closely to see when he breaks his scoring drought and contributes to Real Madrid’s title ambitions this season.
