Andrew Sunkuli, Kenya’s next Deputy President according to Wiper, is an unknown political entity.
His announcement came as a shocker for politicians across the divide, unexpected.
So.. Who is Sunkuli?
Sunkuli, a native of Kilgoris in Transmara is a former KANU operative, and a very close friend of President Moi and his sons.
Sunkuli is a former Literature lecturer at Kenyatta University and a Council member at the Kabarak University.
It is not clear how and why Sunkuli became close to Moi. But he sure was a force to reckon with during the last years of KANU.
He is a brother to Devolution CS Sunkuli and the former flying squad and Kitui DCIO.
Sources say he influenced the appointment of his elder brother Julius Sunkuli to the powerful Internal Security Ministry
He attempted to be the Senator of Narok County but was easily defeated.
Tribe wise.. Sunkuli comes from the minority Moitanik Clan of the Maasai. And is among the most recognizable Transmara professionals.
Sunkuli played a key role in the re-election of Kibaki in 2007. He was rewarded with various contracts
