Angered Bungoma Aspirant Demands Refund After UDA ‘Betrayal’

Bungoma gubernatorial aspirant, Zachariah Baraza, wants UDA to refund him Ksh 500,000 he paid as nomination fees citing row with Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka over the party ticket.

Baraza sought to unseat Governor Wycliffe Wangamati and even paid KSh 500,000 as his nomination fees in UDA ahead of the party primaries and later the August 9 general elections.

Despite his bid, the UDA party backed Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka, who would run on the Ford Kenya ticket.

Mr Baraza therefore announced that he will run for the gubernatorial seat as an independent candidate.

Consequently, he has given UDA seven days to reimburse the money, claiming that he intends to spend it to improve substandard schools in Bungoma’s nine constituencies.
