Anglo-Leasing Hearing Case Postponed

Ignatius Wekesa, a detective with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), was the final prosecution witness and was scheduled for cross-examination on Wednesday.

The Anglo-leasing scandal hearing has been adjourned for Friday.

The decision comes after trial magistrate Felix Kombo granted the defence’s request for two days off to prepare for the cross-examination of the Investigating Officer, the final prosecution witness.

Ignatius Wekesa, a detective with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), was the final prosecution witness and was scheduled for cross-examination on Wednesday.

Chamanlal Kimani, Deepak Kimani, Rashmi Kamani, PSs Joseph Magari, Dave Mwangi, and David Onyonka are charged with conspiracy to defraud the government of Ksh3.5 billion in the Anglo-Leasing contract known as modernization of police security equipment and accessories in the case.

The court also admitted five Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) evidence documents, while one was rejected due to double marking.

The trial of the businessmen and former government officials has far dragged on for nearly a decade.
