Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru is set to appear as prosecution witness against former Devolution & Planning PS Peter Mangiti in the 791 Million National Youth Service Scandal.
The office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) said in a statement, signalling the start of a corruption trial for one of Kenya’s biggest public fund misuse.
Dozens of senior government officials and business people were charged in May 2018 with various crimes related to the theft of billions of shillings from the NYS, which was billed as a new effort to crack down on widespread corruption.
Former Devolution Permanent Secretary Peter Mangiti, and the ex-Director General Nelson Githinji and 22 others were implicated in the scandal.
