Tanzania’s Chief Secretary of State John William Kijazi is dead, President John Pombe Magufuli has announced. – By Gerald Gekara.
John William Kijazi is said to have passed away under unclear circumstances while receiving treatment at the Benjamin Mkapa Hospital in Dodoma.
The late government official was Tanzania’s representative in different foreign missions including India, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal based in New Delhi, India from 2007 – 2016 making him Tanzania’s Head of Mission abroad.
His deaths comes shortly after the state declared seven days of mourning for the Vice President of Tanzania’s semi-autonomous islands of Zanzibar Seif Sharif Hamad.
The Late opposition icon died while recieving treatment for COVID-19, at the country’s national hospital.
