The event was held at Plan Hotel in Malindi town and it will see Ms Fondo serve for another one year term in office. Ms Fondo will be deputised by Caleb Nyamwange, who is the County Attorney in the Nakuru County Government.

The election of the forum leadership was the second event in the three day retreat for the legal minds. The County Attorneys Consultative Retreat currently ongoing in Malindi has been organized by the Council of Governors in collaboration with the Kilifi County Government. Ms Fondo thanked her fellow attorneys for her re-election and vowed to make sure that they deliver on the expectations of the Kenyans they serve. “Thank you for this and I am looking forward for even more cooperation. I understand that it has not been easy in all our counties dealing with several legal challenges but with this new law now in place, let’s make sure that we move forward and strive to serve our people,” she said.

The County Attorneys drawn from the 47 Counties are positioning themselves to play a pivotal role in the operations of the counties to cement the gains of devolution. Earlier in an interview with the press, Mr Nyamwange said the new law which now establishes a fully fledged legal department in all the 47 counties will address the issue of legal outsourcing that has seen counties losing alot of funds in legal expenses.” We hope that we should be able to reduce outsourcing of legal services, which means a reduced expenditure in legal expenses expenses,” he said.
