The Wiper Democratic Front has strengthened its political grip in Machakos County after Antony Kisoi was declared the winner of the Mumbuni North Ward by-election.
Kisoi secured 3,849 votes, placing him well ahead of Harrison Wambua of the Maendeleo Chap Chap Party, who received 2,766 votes.
The United Democratic Alliance’s Misi Mutua came in a distant third with 809 votes, according to results released by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
The outcome reaffirmed Wiper’s dominance in the region and triggered jubilant celebrations across Mumbuni North. Supporters poured into the streets shortly after the announcement, waving party colours and chanting victory slogans late into the evening.
Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, who was present at the tallying centre, joined the celebrations and lauded Kisoi’s victory as a reflection of the community’s trust in Wiper’s leadership.
She praised the electoral process and urged the newly elected ward representative to prioritise service delivery, calling the win an opportunity to address grassroots concerns.
Kisoi’s victory marks a significant boost for Kalonzo Musyoka ahead of upcoming 2027 elections, offering the party renewed momentum as Labour CS Alfred Mutua and Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse return to the drawing board.
